Westside United Would Like to Welcome:
University
of Indianapolis Head Women's Coach, Geoff VanDeusen
Avon, IN - Westside
United FC is pleased to announce the hiring of Coach Geoff VanDeusen as
head coach for the WSU 91 Girls team in their upcoming 2007/2008
season. Coach VanDeusen, currently University
of Indianapolis Head Women's Soccer Coach, brings
12 years of collegiate coaching experience after a recent four-year
stint at Univ of Central Missouri (UCM), where he led the Jennies to a
12-5-3 record in 2006 and a berth into the NCAA tournament.
"I
am ecstatic about being at the
University of
Indianapolis, and I'm also very excited to lead the Westside 91
Girls club team as well," VanDeusen said. With his collective coaching
experience over the years, VanDeusen figures to bring a more collegiate
soccer atmosphere to a team that already has a good deal of talent.
As
a player, VanDeusen started two years as a goalkeeper for the
Leathernecks of Western
Illinois University after transferring from
Trinity College in
Deerfield, Ill.,
where he started as a freshman and sophomore and helped lead the Trojans
to a third place finish at the National Christian College Athletic
Association National Tournament.
VanDeusen has also worked with ODP teams at the state level in
Iowa and
Nebraska, and at
the regional level in
Region I. He served on the NCAA Division II National Women's
Soccer Committee for five years, serving as chair in both 2003 and 2004
in addition to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
Convention Committee.
We
are excited for the team, and the WSU club as a whole, in being able to
work with a coach of such high caliber. We look forward to a successful
U17 season for this team, and trust the girls will report to our Club
tryouts prepared and ready to go.
